Singapore and Mother's Day!

Let me first start by saying that I hope all the moms reading this had a fantastic Mother's Day!! It was difficult being so far from family and not being able to give all the special moms in my life a hug, but my sweet little family made me feel extremely special and loved...they are pretty good at doing that;) And there will be plenty of mom hugging going on when I step off the plane in a month!! I am extremely blessed in the mom department. I have the world's best one...loving and patient, and I am so grateful for the example she set for me. The joy she had in raising her kids made me want to be a mommy. It is all I have wanted to do and I am so thankful to my amazing mother-in-law for giving me such an awesome husband that works hard and makes it possible for me to stay home and live my dream:) These ladies, along with the 2 greatest grandmas, and the examples I see in my sister and sister-in-laws...I am surrounded by loving, Christian women! And my kids are so blessed with the sweetest, funnest grandmas and aunts!!
Anyway, since we were going to be in Singapore on Mother's Day, Brent got off work early on Thursday and took the kids shopping and to dinner. That actually was a really nice Mother's Day gift there! Did you all know I have the best husband in the world?? Seriously...the best. I also have some awesome little shoppers!! They were too excited about what they picked out and immediately had me open everything as soon as they walked in the door! I got purple sunglasses from Jake, a shirt and ring from Ella, and flip flops, a necklace and a ring from Lily. I also got beautiful roses and pearls from Brent. Plus lots of homemade cards, hugs, kisses and they even made their own beds!!

Here I am with my loves and all my goodies!
All the moms from Ella's class were also invited to a day of pampering! It was so sweet! They were so excited and proud:) There were 5 stations that they took us around to: Neck Massage, Manicure, Portraits, Yoga and Snacks. They ended by singing us a song and then Ms. Zaidi read Love You Forever. Needless to say, I had an amazing Mother's Day and it wasn't even Mother's Day yet:)

So, right after Lily got out of school on Friday, the kids and I took a taxi to KL Sentral to meet Brent. We rode the train to the airport and our little vacation began! We had a wonderful long weekend in Singapore!! I actually ran a fever Thursday-Saturday morning and Lily ran one Saturday-Sunday, but we still managed to have an awesome little getaway! Singapore really was beautiful! It wasn't really what I expected. I honestly don't know what I expected though:) We stayed in a hotel on Sentosa Island. We had heard this was a great place to stay with kids and it definitely was! There was so much to do and see and it was all walking distance or just a quick ride on the monorail which Jake loved!!
We started off by playing with the dolphins on Saturday morning! It was SO fun!!! I have always wanted to do this and when I saw you only had to be 4 to get in the water, I signed me and the girls up! Unfortunately, when we got there we discovered Ella was too short though and couldn't get in the water. Bless her heart. Poor baby can't help the fact that her parents can't measure in centimeters. The metric system, military time...argh!!! Anyway, we were able to let her do another program where she sat on the edge of the water and still got to touch and kiss the dolphin. Brent and Jake got to join her, so it worked out! We then spent the rest of the day at the water park.

Our dolphin's name was WaWa. He was 8 years old and full of energy! Here we are giving him a back rub;)

Jake loved throwing the fish for WaWa!

When we did this motion with our fingers, WaWa would sing! It was so cool!! The kids loved that the sound came from his blow hole! They really loved it when he sneezed and got a little snot on Ella:)

Lily dancing with him. She would turn in circles and he would do the same:)

I got to dance too!

Playing with toys:)

All the girls got kisses! Jake and Brent said no thank you:)

They preformed for us at the end:) They can swim SO fast!!

Lily started her fever about 3 pm when we were at the water park. We headed back to the hotel to shower and loaded Lily up on Tylenol and headed to a yummy South American restaurant for dinner. We have missed beef living here. They have it, but it's just not the same. Brent was in heaven for this meal!! The steak was the first thing to go!

There was a live band that was actually really good. Brent was talking about how good they were and I said, "I know! I could listen to him all night!" Lily then said, "I could look at him all night..." Ummm...excuse me?? Anyway, they put on a good show for the kids and tried to play some songs they would know. They had a blast dancing!

Sunday morning, Lily woke up at 4:30 with a high temp and got sick. I kept her at the hotel while Brent took Jake and Ella to church. By the time they got back, Lily's fever was gone and we were able to go out to lunch and do some things around resort world. We continued our feasting on beef and headed to Hard Rock for some good 'ole hamburgers! Then we rode the cable cars and the downhill luge.
The downhill luge was quite an adventure!! Ella was in my lap and Jake in Brent's and Lily had her own. We were in a little car thing that was extremely low to the ground (fyi...wearing a short sundress was not a good move on my part:)) and you pulled the handle bars back and forth to go and stop. They had edges to go up when you turned and you actually went pretty fast. There were 2 courses to choose from. The man told us the left one wasn't very exciting. We had a 2, 4 and 6 yr old going down a steep hill with no seat belts...we went left:) It was plenty exciting!! Jake and Ella LOVED it!! Lily did at first and then her arms got tired. It really was kinda tiring on the arms. By the end, there were a few tears. But we made it! She and Brent also did one of those high jumping trampoline things while I took the little ones back for a swim.
It was my choice for Mother's Day dinner, so I choose ice cream and popcorn and then we found Chocolate World!!
Excited to get a real hamburger!!

Monorail time!

A shot from the cable car

That was the water park we went to the day before.

We didn't get any pictures on the actual luge because we were busy trying not  to crash and all:) This is what it was though!

CHOCOLATE WORLD!!!

This was the coolest ice cream shop!

They poured beakers of all kinds of ingredients into a kitchen aid and then liquid nitrogen.

It was very entertaining!

We approved!!

Not really, Brittney;)

Monday we did Universal Studios! It was a lot of fun!! We really enjoyed Madagascar and Shrek lands. There were a lot of things that we were too little for, but there was still plenty to do! The first ride was a blast...well, for me, Brent and Lily;) We just assumed that a roller coaster that Jake was allowed to go on wouldn't be that much of a roller coaster. Wrong!! As soon as it stopped, he goes "That was very fast!" I said, "Yes, it was! Did you like it?" He said, "No." Sweet boy! I thought he was enjoying it! The rest of the rides that we were able to go on were more low key though:) Lily was pretty adventurous which was fun for me and Brent. The excitement in their eyes just never gets old!

That's Brent and Lily up there!

She loved it!!

Really, mom??

That night we headed to Night Safari! It was the 1 thing we kept hearing we had to do, and it did not disappoint! The zoo at night is pretty cool. Kinda creepy though. It was totally dark and very quiet. Before the safari starts, there is a show right outside that was awesome! Some of you  might have seen on Facebook that Brent got asked up on stage to be a part of it. The kids were so proud!! We don't really have any pictures from the actual safari because you weren't allowed to use flash photography since these were nocturnal animals that weren't used to light. They said it might startle them or even cause them to go blind. They had me at "startle them." We put the camera away:)
When we first got in, we went to a little show where some of the animals preformed for us by walking on a rope, or recycling, etc... Then we did a couple of walking trails and finally ended the evening with more ice cream and the tram ride! We lucked out and rode past the lions right at feeding time. That was pretty neat! All the animals were pretty much up and moving which was really cool.
Don't know if you can see the kids in this picture...they were hiding;)

Yes...Jake is picking the lion's nose here:)

Love this picture! Sweet girl;) The performers kept looking over at the kids and chuckling. They were so in to it! Brent said it was the kid's fault he got pulled up on stage. I do believe he was right;)

Say what??

Our flight back was early afternoon on Tuesday, so we pretty much just had time to pack up, eat breakfast and headed to the airport. On Sunday, the girls and I were walking around and found the neatest restaurant called Slappy Cakes. My husband is a huge fan of pancakes, so we decided we had to take him there! There was no objection from Brent, so we headed there Tuesday morning:) You ordered whatever kind of batter you want (buttermilk, chocolate, whole wheat or peanut butter) and then picked from a massive list of toppings/mixings. There was a griddle built into the middle of each table, so you got to make your own pancakes right there! We all really enjoyed it!! It was a great way to end the trip:)

We were ready!!

Such a fun trip!! We came home very sleepy, but it was totally worth it! Next trip...AMERICA!!!
